Two hours later, Brian came back and saw her. She sat there staring at the blank TV screen.

      Hey, Brian said.

      I havent decided, I went to the doctor while you were gone, I havent been feeling well, Brizee said.

      And? Brian asked.

      Im four weeks pregnant, Brizee said.

      Whose baby is it? Brian asked.

      I dont know, it could be yours, it could be Nicks, Brizee said.

      Brizee, I know deciding is hard for you, so Im going to say follow your heart, Brian said.

      I know what Nick told me, his promise, I know he means it this time, but I dont want to hurt you, you have done nothing to hurt me, you treated me right, Brizee said.

      I do love you, and I dont want you to make the wrong decision, Brian said.

      Im going to take a nap, Brizee said. She went upstairs and laid down and went to sleep

**The doorbell rang. Brian got up and opened the door and saw Nick.

      Nick, Brian said. He went in.

      Brizee, Nick said.

      Wheres Nicky? Brizee said.

      I dont know, he was in the nursery, I was downstairs with the baby monitor, I had it on, I checked at both ends, I searched the whole house, hes gone, someone must have took him through the back door, I called the cops, they are searching, Brizee, Im so sorry! Nick said. Brizee collapsed against him. He held her.

      Oh god! Brizee said as she started to cry.

      I should have had him with me downstairs, but I didnt want to move him because he was sleeping, Nick said.

      I know, I know, Brizee said crying.

There was a knock at the door. Brian opened it and Officer Smith came in.

      Mr. Carter, Mrs. Littrell, we found a body by the ocean, Officer Smith said.

      Officer Smith? Brian asked.

      Its Nicky, Im so sorry, Officer Smith said.

      NO! Brizee cried. Nick held her as they cried. Brian sat there and watched as his wife broke down in Nicks arms.**

Brizee sat up. She saw Brian sitting up watching TV. He looked at her. She jumped up and got her shoes on.

      Brizee? Brian said. She ran out the door. He ran after her. She got her purse and keys and ran out and jumped into her car and drove to Nicks house, unaware that Brian was following her. She pulled into the driveway and jumped out and ran up to the door. She used her key and went in. Nick came in from the kitchen.

      Briz, Nick said as Brian came running in.

      Where is he, Brizee said.

      Who? Nicky? Hes upstairs in the nursery, sleeping, Nick said. Brizee ran upstairs. She ran into the nursery and saw Nicky asleep in the bed. She stood there watching him as she started to cry. Nick came in with Brian behind him.

      Briz, whats wrong, Nick said.

      I thought he was gone, Brizee said crying.

      What, Nick said.

      I dreamt that you came over and said that Nicky was kidnapped and then Officer Smith came in and said they found him and Brizee said as she started sobbing. Nick put his hands on her shoulders.

      And what, Briz, Nick said. She looked at him.

      Officer Smith said he was dead, Brizee said sobbing. Nick hugged her tight.

      Oh Briz, I would not let anything happen to him, I would die for him, you know that, I would put my life before Nickys, he is our son and he is fine, Nick said cupping her face in his hands.

      But Nick Brizee said.

      Briz, listen to me, I said I would put my life before Nickys, he is a part of me, I would never let anything happen to him, Nick said. Brizee looked at him and hugged him. Brian watched.
