Nick sat there in the hotel room, staring at the ceiling. Someone pounded
on the door but he didn’t move. He heard the key swipe and the door open and close. He looked up and saw Brian and Kevin.
“Nick,” Brian said.
“What,” Nick said softly.
“Have you been crying?” Brian asked.
“Yeah, so what, I can’t cry or something?” Nick said.
“Nick, what happened, you didn’t show up for breakfast, neither did Hayley, are you guys okay?” Brian
asked. Nick looked at him as fresh tears rolled down his cheeks. He looked at his hands and shook his head. Kevin sat down
beside him as Brian sat on the other side.
“What happened, Nicky,” Kevin asked.
“She left me,” Nick said.
“What, Hayley left you, why,” Brian said.
“She thinks I cheated on her with Mandy, Mandy showed up, she said that we should continue where we left off,
she said that we had hot sex the other night,” Nick said.
“Nick,” Kevin said.
“Mandy is a lying bitch, I never been with her, I didn’t cheat on Hayley, but Hayley didn’t believe
that, she said she wasn’t sure what to believe,” Nick said.
“Nick,” Kevin said.
“I love Hayley so much, I just got her back and Mandy comes along and screws it up, I don’t kwow what to
do, I tried calling Hayley and she won’t answer, my life is over,” Nick said.
“Nick, don’t say that, we’ll talk to her,” Brian said.
“Brian, just let it go,” Nick said.
“So you are just giving up,” Brian said.
“Yeah, I am, it’s obvious, she doesn’t trust me, she never had, for her to believe something that
isn’t true, it proves that she never really fully trusted me,” Nick said.
“He’s got a point,” Kevin said.
“I have to find a way to move on,” Nick said.
“Nick, giving up is proof that it really happened,” Brian said.
“Begging for forgiveness is proof, not giving up without trying to beg for forgiveness, I have nothing to be
guilty about, I did nothing but love her and she walked out on me, she should be the one begging for forgiveness, for not
having faith in me,” Nick said. Brian sighed. He hugged Nick and went back to his wife, who was on the phone. He sat
down. She mouthed that it was Hayley.
“Here, talk to Brian, he will know more than I do, he just came from the room,” Leighanne said.
“Hayley,” Brian said.
“Brian,” Hayley said.
“Nick didn’t do anything with Mandy,” Brian said.
“You don’t know that, Brian,” Hayley said.
“Hayley, I know him better than you do, he’s over there crying, but he said he’s giving up and moving
on,” Brian said.
“He’s guilty, he did cheat,” Hayley said.
“No, he didn’t, you just proved that you don’t have faith and trust in him, he loved you, Hayley,
and you just screwed that up,” Brian said. He hung up the phone.
“So he didn’t do anything?” Leighanne asked.
“No, he didn’t, I know he wouldn’t do that, he was always the one cheated on,” Brian said.
“I can’t believe this, he finally gets her back to normal and she turns around and walks out on him, she
didn’t trust him, I should go see Nicky,” Leighanne said. She went over to Nick’s room with Brian behind
her. Nick opened the door and saw them. Leighanne hugged Nick. They went in and sat down and talked.
