Hayley woke up the next morning and felt arms around her. She looked up and
saw Nick looking at her.
“Hey,” Hayley said.
“How do you feel?” Nick asked.
“Safe, tired,” Hayley said.
“I won’t let anything happen to you, Brian called, Kevin’s out of jail, they held him overnight,
Brian told Kevin not to come near us, or he would cut him out of his life forever, Kevin doesn’t want to lose his cousin
so he has to keep the promise,” Nick said. The doorbell rang. Nick got up and went downstairs and opened the door and
saw Kevin standing there with his hands in his pockets. Brian stood behind him.
“Hey Frack, can we come in?” Brian asked.
“You can, but he can’t,” Nick said.
“Nick, he is not here to cause any problems,” Brian said. Nick rolled his eyes and stepped aside. Kevin
and Brian came in. Nick closed the door. Kevin and Brian sat on the couch. Nick came into the living room and stood there
with his arms crossed.
“Okay, so what’s the deal here,” Nick said.
“I came to apologize for everything,” Kevin said.
“Not going to make things better,” Nick said.
“Nick,” Brian said.
“He raped my wife, Brian, he hit her, he will never receive forgiveness from me or my wife, I know she won’t
forgive him, he took her against her will,” Nick said.
“You hardly know her,” Kevin said.
“She even said so,” Nick said.
“She told you she wouldn’t forgive me ever,” Kevin said.
“Yeah, last night on the way to the hospital,” Nick said. He sat down.
“Nick, I just want to make things right,” Kevin said.
“Not going to happen, you can’t do shit and make things right, you screwed up, Kevin, you ruined your own
life by lying to my wife to get her in bed and cheating on your wife in the process, then your life falls apart and you blame
my wife for it when you were the one to ruin your life, you would still have Kris if you hadn’t gotten my wife into
bed,” Nick said.
“I know, Nick, I know that,” Kevin said.
“Nick, he is moving to Kentucky, away from everyone, he’s moving there for good,” Brian said.
“Good, that is what Hayley needs to get over all this, she went through a lot with Adam and then this happens,
I am not letting anything hurt her again,” Nick said.
“I saw her house for sale,” Kevin said.
“She is living here with me, as you saw when you came and raped her, she was unpacking, she’s upstairs
in bed and you are not going near her,” Nick said.
“Are you two going to try for a real marriage?” Brian asked.
“Yeah,
we are, I have feelings for her, I care about her, I will protect her with my life,” Nick said. Kevin cleared his throat.
Nick turned and saw Hayley standing at the bottom of the steps. Nick came over to her. She looked up at him.
